Big Rig Collision south of Bridgeport
Here is the latest update (as of 8:00am) from the California Highway Patrol on the big rig collision south of Bridgeport: the involved big rig (truck-tractor and trailers) is partially in Virginia Creek, immediately west of Hwy 395. The big rig is leaking motor oil and possible diesel fuel into the creek. This incident is now being managed as a hazardous materials incident.
Representatives from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) are on-scene to assist with clean-up. Patriot Environmental Services, a private hazardous materials clean-up company, is en route from Bakersfield. Representatives from the California Department of Fist and Wildlife are also en route. CHP is responsible for the investigation of the incident and will continue to manage the incident throughout the day.
Motorists are asked, again, to use extra caution in the area of the accident as workers will be within very close proximity to Hwy 395 as clean-up continues throughout the day. Motorists should also expect intermittent delays of up to 30 minutes as clean-up and removal of the accident site continues.
Thank you!
