RE: Recent burglary activity in the Walker/Coleville area
On Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at approximately 11:30 am, Mono County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a call regarding a potential burglary in progress at a residence in Walker.
Mono County Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators were dispatched to Walker for the report of two unknown suspects, dressed in dark clothing, who had entered a residence through an unlocked door. The suspects were unaware that the residence was occupied and were chased away by the homeowner. Prior to the incident taking place, a male subject knocked on the front door of the residence inquiring about a person who did not live there. It is believed, at this time, that the male at the front door may have been checking to see if the residence was occupied prior to the attempted burglary. This case is still under active investigation by the Mono County Sheriff’s Office.
The Mono County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the residents of the Walker/Coleville communities to keep their residence locked and beware of any suspicious activity. Increased deputy patrol has been, and will continue, to be done to continue to ensure the safety of the public. If you believe suspicious activity is taking place, please do not take matters into your own hands. Please call the Mono County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at (760) 932-7549 ext. 7, and we will have a deputy respond and assist you.
