Mono City Fire Protection District

Mono City is a small, unincorporated community northwest of Mono Lake, in Mono County, California. The Mono City Fire Department, whose intended purposes are to promote fire prevention and to fight fire when it breaks out in Mono City, to offer rescue and emergency medical services in the same locale, and to assist other nearby firefighting/emergency medical organizations as needed, is comprised solely of volunteer residents.

The department has a bifurcated structure; volunteer firefighters, EMTs, and certificated drivers use the department’s equipment on incident calls, and a group of volunteer commissioners attend to planning, policy, communications, and financial and other issues.

The Mono City Fire Department website aims to lead residents to fire prevention resources and information on emergency evacuation, to provide related news and local information, to serve as a public roster for resident reference, and to lead interested residents to potential volunteer participation.
