EAGLE Two Fire now 50 Percent Contained with no new growth

Bridgeport, California; Aug. 17, 2015 (10:30 a.m.) – Interagency fire crews continue to work on strengthening containment lines around the Eagle Two Fire on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest just west of Bridgeport, California. The cause of the fire was from lightning that occurred at an earlier date and had been smoldering. It is now 50 percent contained with no new growth.

The Buckeye Campground remains closed at this time due to continued fire traffic. Additional closures include portions of the Eagle Creek and Buckeye trails. These areas are closed until further notice.

Resources that still remain on the Eagle Two Fire include: one engine, three handcrews, two helicopters, and various overhead staff. Rehab efforts will focus on areas of disturbance caused by suppression activity.

Mizer Great Basin Type III Incident Management Team (IMT) will be transitioning the management of the fire back to the Bridgeport Ranger District. This will be the last news release from the Type III IMT for this fire, but additional information can still be found at:

The chance of wildfires occurring has increased due to the recent warm temperatures and long term drought conditions. Forest officials encourage the public to be extremely cautious with activities that could potentially cause a wildfire.
