Subject: Update on Flooding in Chalfant

There is still a voluntary evacuation notice issued for Chalfant in the areas of Sacramento Street, from Valley Road to White Mountain. Sheriff's Deputies are on scene helping escort evacuees out of the area. **IF THERE ARE ANY RESIDENTS WITHIN THE EVACUATION AREA WITH SPECIAL NEEDS, THAT WILL NEED EXTRA ASSISTANCE, PLEASE CONTACT THE MONO COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE AT (760) 932-7549 ext. 7. ** We want to ensure everyone that is going to evacuate gets out safely.

There are several homes on Sacramento Street that are flooded due to the surge of water moving up and over the street. Please use caution in the flood areas.

Hwy 6 is now open with CHP escorts through the flood area. Please expect delayed travel times as traffic is escorted through the area.

Rain is expected to continue throughout the day. The incident is working under a Unified Command with the Mono County Sheriff's Office, California Highway Patrol, CalFire, and Chalfant Valley Fire Department. Updates will continue to be provided as they become available. Thank you! - Jennifer M. Hansen, Public Information Officer
