NPAT was created to address the rising overweight and obesity rates in Mono County. While some believe that this is not a local problem, the data shows that indeed Mono County is following the nation's trend that 1 out of 3 children and 2 out of 3 adults are overweight or obese. So, what are we doing to address this local problem?
75210: Simple Steps to Better Health
NPAT provides educational outreach regarding the 75210 concepts via school programs, community events, summer camps. and local agencies. 75210 stands for, eat a healthy breakfast 7 days a week, eat 5 fruits and vegetables every day, limit screen time to 2 hours or less every day, be active for at least 1 hour every day, drink 0 sugar-sweetened beverages.
Food Day celebrates healthy lifestyles and the national movement for nutritious, affordable, and sustainable food. It is also a day to inspire Americans to eat real, wholesome foods and push for improved food policies. NPAT collaborates with local schools and businesses during the week of Food Day to bring awareness to making nutritious choices around foods purchased at resturants, in schools, or at grocery stores to prepare at home.
Health in All Policies
NPAT works with the Town of Mammoth Lakes and Mono County staff to support projects and programs that increase access to healthy foods and recreation, through changes in policy and the built environment.
