Mono County Budget Town Hall Meetings
Six meetings will be held throughout the County to strengthen public participation
Mono County, Calif. – June 26th, 2013 - The Mono County Budget Town Hall meetings for Fiscal Year 2013-2014 are scheduled to begin July 8th and will conclude July 18th. These meetings are a new feature to the County budget development and are in addition to the required public hearing process. They are for the public to learn about budget issues and provide input in shaping County priorities.
Mono County Board of Supervisor Chairman Byng Hunt commented, “The Board is committed to greater transparency in the budget process. The County is approaching budget development with a focus on strategic issues and wants to provide ample public feedback opportunities. The County is hosting these meetings out in the community to create those opportunities.”
The meetings will follow the same format in each community and are being held at night to enable greater participation. The format will include:
1. Welcome and opening comments from district County Supervisor(s);
2. Overview of County budget including process and timeline;
3. Discussion of economic factors that will affect the 2013-2014 overall budget;
4. Open discussion forum to provide feedback, ask questions and make budget suggestions for Board consideration;
5. Wrap up and discussion of next steps.

August 13th – 14th – Board Budget Workshops held at the Board of Supervisors Chambers in Bridgeport – Public meetings to review the budget, provide Board Members the opportunity to communicate priorities, review department requests compared to projected available funds, and make recommendations for changes, reductions and/or additions.
Sept. 3rd - Public budget hearings before the Mono County Board of Supervisors commence.
Sept. 17th or 24th – Mono County Board of Supervisors Meetings - Adoption of the 2013-2014 County Budget
