April 2024 marks Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Month with the theme "Building A Hopeful Future, Together." Here's what's happening in Mono County for CAP Month 2024:

Wear Blue Day: On April 5th, join us in wearing blue to show support for promoting positive childhood experiences by participating in #WearBlueDay!

Blue Ribbon Campaign: Show your support by downloading an Email Signature Campaign Image from www.facebook.com/MonoCaresForKids. Add it to your email signature and spread awareness!

Children’s Storytime: Join us on April 24th for a captivating storytime session in Mammoth Lakes (stay tuned for details on Facebook) featuring Yes! No!: A First Conversation About Consent. Additionally, free copies of this book will be available at Mono County Libraries. Supplies are limited.

My Safe Space Bookmark: Get creative and color some bookmarks! Color One, Leave One at Mono County Libraries until April 30th.

CASA of the Eastern Sierra Resilience Symposium: Attend the Resilience Symposium on April 22nd-23rd at Tri County Fairgrounds. Register now: CASASymposium.

About Us:  The Mono County Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) was established in November 2001.  The rural and isolated characteristics of Mono County significantly influence the availability of child abuse prevention services and resources. The goal of the CAPC is to look at local needs regarding child abuse and neglect prevention, to hear updates on programs that are funded by OCAP and other agency updates as they relate to family strengthening.  As such, the Mono County CAPC identified four areas of need to allocate child abuse prevention grant funds. 

    * Promotion of Personal Safety and Interpersonal Respect
    * Community Development to Remedy the Isolation of Families
    * Parent Education and Support
    * Individualized and Flexible Parent Coaching

The Mono County Department of Social Services has contracted with First 5 Mono County and the Mono County Office of Education. 

Mission Statement:  Mono County CAPC is dedicated to supporting activities, resources and programs that encourage safe, healthy and resilient families.
